Tac9er 15 in 1 Tactical Multi-tool Shovel review

A new company named Tac9er reached out to me to review their new Tactical Multitool Shovel.
The standard military E-tool shovel is a staple of car kits, bug out bags, and prepper gear kits (or at least it should be). From digging latrines and fire pits to getting a car unstuck, building a fighting position, or digging for edible roots, there are a multitude of situations where a shovel is an extremely useful if not necessary tool.
But usually thats the only purpose they serve, is as as shovel. Tac9er set out to make their shovel as useful for as many other things as possible as well. The shovel is advertised as having 15 additional functions:
– ruler
– axe
– 2 hex driver / wrench sizes
– serrated edge
– hook / wire cutter
– hoe configuration
– harpoon
– mini saw
– mini blade
– bottle opener
– glass Breaker
– Phillips head bit
– flathead bit
– Ferrosium rod
– compass

My thoughts on the good and the bad of this tool:
THE GOOD:
I haven’t had the shovel long enough to comment on how well it will actually hold up to heavy use over the long term, but it is a solidly constructed tool and I don’t think you would have any issues. The ability to have various handle lengths is a desirable feature, and it can be longer than a regular etool, making it less taxing to use, and more effective as a weapon if needed. The many other additional features over a standard etool are an advantage obviously as well. I think the firestarter, harpoon/gig, and blades are the most useful. There appears to be additional space in the handles that could be filled with cotton for firestarting, or a host of other survival tools.
THE BAD:
The case is a little chinsy should have MOLLE type attachments and a more secure closing. The tool itself takes longer to deploy than a standard etool, and some of the tools can be hard to unscrew. A compass is essential gear, but may be a bit fragile of an item to have on the butt of a shovel. I don’t think the glass breaker is really a very needed tool on a 2lb metal shovel/axe (glass breaking should be fairly easy.
None of these negatives are deal breakers, and some can be easily overcome (like getting another case for it that has MOLLE webbing). In my opinion the additional capabilities make up for the minor downsides, and I will be adding this shovel to either my car kit or my Bug out bag.

Eric, this tool has more than you’ll ever need, especially the screwdriver, smart, the edges on the shovel blade are multipurpose as well. The extensions are good may be in tight space situations is surely a plus. Good tool!
